The University of Tennessee Research Foundation is pleased to welcome Raven Edwards as its Marketing Manager. With over 20 years of experience in marketing, client relations, and design, Edwards brings a wealth of knowledge to the UTRF team.
In her role, Edwards will lead the design and implementation of UTRF’s marketing initiatives, ensure communication efforts reach a broad audience, and consult with the licensing team to develop and implement marketing strategies for UTRF technologies.
I’m so happy for Raven to join UTRF,” said UTRF Vice President Kusum Rathore. “She is bringing great ideas to the table and forging relationships with the staff. I look forward to her growth over the following months as she learns more about the industry and UTRF’s mission.”
Before arriving at UTRF, Edwards was a transcriber and digital marketing manager for the UT Knoxville’s Student Disability Services office. Previously, she served as a senior client services director for a wealth management company and a studio and marketing manager for an art studio.
I’m absorbing as much as I possibly can, and learn something new every day. Gaining insight into a new field has been intimidating but very fun,” said Edwards. “I’m happy to be here and excited about the future. I’m part of an incredible team and love that we have strong female leadership at UTRF. I love being surrounded by brilliant women.”
Originally from Erwin, Tennessee, Edwards received her Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology from UTK. She loves engaging with others through effective communication strategies and designing compelling content. At UTRF, Edwards has enjoyed being able to do what she loves – communication and design – in an entirely unfamiliar environment.
I think everyone in the UTRF office works with the opposite side of their brain than I do,” joked Edwards. “I am right-brained, so working alongside very left-brain and science-focused individuals has been enlightening.”
Outside of work, Edwards loves to travel and be in nature. She and her husband have two children and two dogs. This summer has been one of change and transition for her family. She and her husband started new jobs the same week, while her children will be attending UTK this fall – her son as a senior and her daughter as a freshman.
It’s been a season of adjustments,” said Edwards. “But all positive!”
