Todd Ponzio is the Vice President of UTRF at the Health Sciences Campus (HSC) in Memphis, managing the office and working alongside colleagues to provide technology commercialization services to UTHSC, UT Martin, UT Southern, as well as various health sciences components nested across the full UT system. In addition to negotiating and managing licenses and other strategic alliances, he oversees technical analyses, intellectual property matters, and regulatory advising, focusing particularly on advancing biomedical and digital health technologies to commercially sustained enterprises.
Just prior to joining UTRF, Todd led Wake Forest Innovations where he overhauled the health system’s technology development efforts and tripled licensing activity. As the leader of the Office of Research and Technology Applications at the Naval Medical Research Center, he oversaw one-third of the US Navy’s technology transfer partnerships. His efforts have enabled commercialized and clinical stage technologies, including medical devices, therapeutics, and digital health technologies. A graduate of the Johns Hopkins Cary Business School Innovate program, he earned his doctorate in neuroscience, holds a regulatory affairs credential, and is licensed to practice with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
