As UTRF’s Staff Attorney, CeCe Ging provides legal advice and support to UTRF licensing staff and management which includes negotiation, drafting, and review of UTRF contracts as well as protecting UTRF’s interests in University of Tennessee (UT) research contracts, cooperative agreements, and other development initiatives with industry and federal sponsors in coordination with UT’s Office of General Counsel and UT research administrators.
In addition, CeCe serves as a key advisor to the UTRF President and provides legal support to UTRF in structuring and managing current and future nonprofit 501(c)(3) and for-profit corporate structure and governance, that help promote UT’s initiatives. CeCe also provides counsel on various entrepreneurial and economic development initiatives including review and oversight of agreements associated with UTRF special projects.
Prior to joining UTRF, CeCe was the Intellectual Property Attorney for the Texas A&M University System Office of General Counsel where she advised the Texas A&M University System and its members on various matters involving intellectual property, business transactions, and commercialization.
CeCe obtained her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with a Biochemistry Concentration from Washington University in St. Louis and her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. CeCe is admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Texas. She is also a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. CeCe was one of the first Commercialization Analyst interns in 2012 for UTRF’s Multi-Campus Office.
