The University of Tennessee Research Foundation offers a paid Communications and Marketing Internship. This internship provides an opportunity to gain real-world experience and build a strong portfolio while working with a marketing professional to support the Research Foundation. Interns maintain a regular schedule of 10 hours per week, in-person in Knoxville, for one semester.
Internship Duties:
- Project management and social media campaign development, with various content creation assignments including copywriting, graphic design and strategic planning
- Graphic design projects using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva
- Video projects using Adobe After Effects, Motion Array and other video editing software
- Copywriting and editing including press releases, feature articles, social and web copy
- Assist in the development of monthly UTRF newsletters
- Participating in meetings and brainstorming sessions to develop marketing plans
Requirements:
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents
- Ability to work 10 hours weekly, in-person, for one semester
- Undergraduate junior, senior or a graduate student as of fall 2022
- Currently studying or have achieved a degree in a relevant field including communications, marketing, public relations or journalism
- Skilled communicator: verbal, visual and written
- Some graphic design experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Maturity and professionalism in an office setting
Preferred Experience:
- Previous internship or work experience in public relations, communications or marketing
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite applications including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects and Lightroom
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
