The UTRF internship program is a hands-on opportunity to explore new innovations being developed at UT and to understand the transition from research to a commercial product. Our interns work closely with UTRF’s licensing staff to provide support for innovation assessments while obtaining valuable experience in preparation for careers that merge science with business development, entrepreneurship, and law. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.

Responsibilities
- Analyze new inventions
- Perform patentability analysis
- Outreach to potential industry partners
- Present recommendations for management of new inventions
- Assist in ad-hoc projects in marketing and financial evaluations
Skill Set
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical skills – ability to understand new concepts quickly
- High attention to detail and organization
- Background in Life Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or Physical Science preferred
Commitment
- 35 hr/wk in Summer
- 10 hr/wk in Fall and Spring semesters
