METHODS FOR AMYLOID REMOVAL USING ANTI-AMYLOID ANTIBODIES
About:As the American population ages, the need for innovative treatments for diseases correlated with age will increase. One such group of diseases is amyloidosis. Amyloidosis refers to conditions where amyloid proteins build up abnormally in organs and/or tissue. Some common types of amyloidosis include Alzheimer's disease, Crutzfeld Jacob's disease, type II diabetes, and many others. To address the growing number of patients affected by amyloidosis, researchers at the University of Tennessee have pioneered new non-invasive methods for imaging, disease monitoring and immunotherapeutic treatment of patients with AL amyloidosis. These ground-breaking discoveries provide exciting new opportunities for the treatment of amyloidosis, especially in the increasing elderly population.
