Dr. Randy Gentry serves as the Director of the Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment at the University of Tennessee, where he is also an Associate Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Dr. Gentry came to the University of Tennessee in 2002 as a faculty member and was appointed director of ISSE in May 2007. Since that time, he has been working with researchers at the University of Tennessee to develop a strong sustainability science program and has grown the ISSE to an approximate $4M/year research enterprise. Dr. Gentry was born in Knoxville, but his family moved to west Tennessee where he was raised. He earned his Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Memphis. Most of research career has been spent on evaluating complex groundwater systems and their mixing behavior.
